“Baked-in-a-jar packaging shows the gorgeous saffron colour with juicy looking fruit. There is a tinge of alcohol on the nose. A lovely soft moist texture, and a beautiful developing pattern of flavours with alcohol coming through at the end, not too sweet. One judge said he would stock it in his shop in a second! Table 1: We agree - delicious moist fruit, perfectly judged alcohol, a very appealing consistency and a clever quirky presentation. A gorgeous product - we all wanted more....
“Very unusual, but pleasant concept. The crumb is extremely light, moist, buttery and eggy. The addition of Grappa and dark chocolate made it a wonderful cake to eat.
“A very rich, eggy cake, the fruit is very good and the peel full of zingy freshness. The cake is rich and moist.”
“Very attractive appearance - we liked the rich, golden colour. The flavour of the butter comes through, and there is a good balance of sweetness. The texture is very crumbly, but not unpleasant. We feel this is a very tasty product.”
“A good contrast in texture, nice crunch to the nut; the caramelisation adds an interesting bite.”
“An impressive golden brown artisan cake. Cut very well, and a deep light sponge with a deep colour, well distributed generous pieces of marron glace and raisins. The taste is fresh, yet subtle with the liquor only coming through gently at the endt.”
“Good aroma with the cherry coming through strongly. Lovely golden colour and rich flavour.
“A light, fluffy, fragrant cake with beautiful natural lemon - all the judges wanted more. This cake puts a smile on your face.”
“A beautifully presented loaf style cake, this Italian offering is truly delicious. Rich, very moist, light dough containing luscious candied oranges and sweet Moscato wine, this is sheer rich indulgence. The free range eggs balance the rich flavours..”
“he look of this cake, with its open texture, is definitely Italian, and the orange colour promises well for the taste. It is delicate and subtle, lighter than the more familiar panettone We were quite divided on this, with two of us liking it a lot, but the third finding it slightly bland. It has the characteristic Italian baking aroma with hints of vanilla and we thought how good it would be with some ftresh raspberries and a glass of moscato!.”
“Light and golden, with quite an open texture, this is a lovely treat. The balance of port is well judged, and comes through very subtly. The chocolate is a good addition too”
“Sweet rich and buttery, this soft open textured bread is littered with intense, juicy black cherries.”
“The judges were impressed by the appearance of this cake and the golden colour and the soft, delicate texture of it.”
“brioche soaked, precise notes of Alpine gin botany.”
“sublime sweetness, well balanced, not too sweet. A fine treat”
